ITANAGAR, Feb 7: All Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Employees’ Welfare Association demanded arrest of the miscreants who have burnt down public properties like APST buses at Ganga STS station on Saturday night.
Vehemently condemning the barbaric act of bus burning on Saturday night, Association said destruction of public properties such as parking buses of APSTS have badly affected the service and the sufferers are the poor people of the state.
In an ultimatum served to the state Transport Minister, the Association demanded thorough enquiry into the vehicle burning incident and take stringent action against wrong doers as per law so that such incident never occurs again in the future. It further said that the infuriated mob should not take law in their own hand and law should be given free hand to take its own course.
Alleging inefficiency of law enforcing authority, the Association also demanded suspension of police personnel who were on duty for their alleged failure to protect public properties on Saturday night.
Demanding security to the STS properties including staff, it said the STS employees are feeling insecurity due to frequent mob violence. It further urged the state Govt to initiate step for adequate STS buses so that the poor passengers do not suffer due to shortage of buses.
Expressing resentment over repeated burning down of STS buses and Govt alleged failure to protect the Govt properties and nab the miscreants, the Association further demanded arrest and exemplary punishment to the miscreants who had burnt three APST buses on November 4 last year.

Mortal remains of Dr Jini Gamlin laid to rest
ITANAGAR, Feb 7: The mortal remains of Late Dr Moter Jini Gamlin was laid to rest today at her Aalo residence this morning.
Dr Jini Gamlin, wife of former Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin had died on Feb 5 after a long battle with ill health at a private hospital in Guwahati. The Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and host of MLAs joined hundreds of mourners in bidding final good bye to Dr Jini Gamlin.
The West Siang unit of Arunachal Teacher's Association has mourned the demise of Late Dr Jini Gamlin.
In a condolence message to Jarbom Gamlin, the teachers prayed to almighty to grant the family fortitude to bear the loss and eternal rest for the departed soul.
Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum ( AITF ) expressed profound grieve and sorrow at the untimely demise of Dr. (Mrs.) Moter Jini Gamlin.

ITANAGAR, Feb 7: Arunachal Pradesh Tribal Job Contract Employees Union (APTJCEU), NEEPCO Ltd observed 48 hrs bandh at Kameng hydro power project and Pare Hydro Power project sites on February 6 and 7 in favour of its demand for regularization of job contract employees who are serving NEECO with dedication for last 7 years.
The bandh paralyzed the office functioning and affected all project activities. However, the local police visited the project site ensure peaceful atmosphere, said the union.

After retirement, pensioners have to run from pillar to post for at least a year for settlement of their pension paper before final settlement at the office of the Directorate of Audit and Pension.

This journalist had met a senior citizen at one of Directorate offices here. The pensioner was inquiring about the status of his pension related file in the directorate.
When I came across this pensioner after a year, I was shocked to know about delayed settlement process of pension papers. When I enquired, the old pensioner said, “I am really frustrated. Sometimes, I found my pension file at the office of concern district officer for rectification and correction. The file also, sometimes, gathers dust inside the office Almirah for long period due to absence of concern official in the Directorate office. I don’t know when such kind of problem will be solved.”
When I enquired the Audit and Pension director A Basit about such lengthy process in clearing a pension file, I came to know that the Director and Commissioner (Finance) had several times circulated guidelines to all departments of the state for systematic preparation of pension papers.
To the utter surprise of the pensioners most of the departments have failed to adhere to the guidelines resulting in considerable delay in settlement of pension cases and causing untold suffering to the pensioners.
Basit said systematic preparation of pension cases before retirement of an official will definitely enable the pensioner to get his pension immediately after retirement.
“The list of officials likely to be retire within next two years shall be prepared by all the departments and submit it to the Director of Audit and Pension by first week of April every year to keep a watch over the timely processing of pension cases and its settlement”.
Further, the pension papers of the retiring person must reach to the Director of Audit and Pension six months before retirement of the Govt staff positively.
Informing about Supreme Court verdict he further said, “action should be initiated against the defaulting officials in case of inordinate delay in submission of the pension documents without any specific valid reason”. According to Supreme Court verdict, Penal interest on delayed payment of all pension benefits at the rate applicable as per CCS (Pension) rule shall be realized from the erring officials to compensate the pensioner concerned.
Basit added that there shall be a nodal officer in each department to monitor timely processing of the pension cases as prescribed in the pension rule.
It is surprising, despite the pension rule in place, the pensioners are destined to suffer without their fault. Hope, the state government will issue strict directives to all departments to abide by the guidelines issued by higher authorities so that the pensioners and the senior citizens live with dignity in the society.
Kurung Kumey DTF chalks out plan for Measles catch up campaign
KOLORIANG, Feb 7: A meeting cum training of district Task Force (DTF) on Measles catch up and IPPI was held at DC's conference hall here yesterday.
This meeting was attended by DC incharge Tamo Koyu, DMO Dr Higio Tama and all other DMOs of Kurung Kumey district among others.
Detail presentation on Measles catch up campaign and IPPI was given by Dr. Nani Tanyo. The campaign will commence from March 6, children of between age group of 9 months to 10 years will be targeted during the campaign.
In his address Tamo Koyu said that the General administration will provide all assistance to make the campaign successful. He also emphasized on the importance of Anganwadi's and ASHA's for success of the campaign.
Dr. N.Tanyo highlighted the important role of administration, education and ICDS departments. He requested the DC for cooperation and guidance for success of the campaign. Yangte MO incharge suggested for awareness program to enlighten the mass about the importance of vaccination.
Dr.Higio Tama spoke on the importance of the campaign and requested everyone to put there full effort to make the campaign successful. He also expressed disappointment at the non attendance of PRI leaders as they play a very important role in the campaign.
The meeting was followed by technical session with the MOs of the district.
State level Khadhi exhibition at Ziro
ITANAGAR, Feb 7: Lower Subansiri deputy commissioner Nila Mohanan inaugurated a 15 days State Level Marketing Exhibition on Khadhi and village industries products at Subansiri Stadium, Ziro in Lower Subansiri district on February 3.
The exhibition is being organized by by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Arunachal Pradesh under the aegis of Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

ITANAGAR, Feb 7: East Siang Krishi Vigyan Kendra unit along with College of Horticulture & Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat today organized a training cum demonstration programme on “Composite Fish Farming System” for the progressive farmers of Mirem village. Sponsored by ATMA, the programme was organized with the objective of promoting fish farming and providing technical guidance in the village.
The programme saw interaction between farmers and resource persons over various issues related to fishing. A progressive farmer Obang Nonang emphasized on the prospect of fish farming in the village for nutritional security and better livelihood.

ITANAGAR, Feb 7: Indefinite pen/tools down strike being launched by Arunachal Pradesh Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Contractual Employees’ Association entered second day today.
Earlier, APSSACEA served an ultimatum to state government to fulfill their demand for release of enhanced salary approved by MHRD, GoI and also observed three days pen and tools down strike but till today the government is adamant on the issue.

Unemployment problem irks union
ITANAGAR, Feb 7: Arunachal Students’ Union of Tamil Nadu (ASUT) appealed to the state government to look into the unemployment problem being faced by the youth.
Expressing concern over the present law and order situation in state, particularly in state Capital, the union appealed to the Capital Complex administration to improve law and order. It also condemned the recent destruction of APST buses.
NYC serves ultimatum
ITANAGAR, Feb 7: The Nationalist Youth Congress (NYC), Arunachal Pradesh Unit has strongly criticized the BSNL authority for not providing mobile service at Toru/Kheel village under Papum Pare district though mobile tower has been installed.
The NYC has called on concerned authority to immediately provide mobile service and restore landline service in the Toru/Kheel areas within next 15 days. Failing this they threatened to take strict action against BSNL authorities. NYC claimed that landline service got disconnected as landline pole were damaged and no any maintenance work has been done by the BSNL authority. NYC stated that people of Kheel/Toru walk upto Hostalam village, which is 7km away to make a call as BSNL mobile users receive signal there.
Free medical camp
ITANAGAR, Feb 7: 31th Bn ITBP force conducted two days free medical camp under civic action programme at Aab Tebe Residential English Medium School recently.
Altogether, 219 personnel availed medical checkup, consultation and eye vision test on the occasion. Dr. BL Roy attended the programme as resource person.
Earlier, the camp was inaugurated by 31th Bn ITBP commandant Mahesh Kalawat.

Youth devoid of job opportunities
The latest World Youth Report, released by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs said that lack of job opportunities, inadequate education and vulnerable working conditions are some of the main concerns of the global youth.
Youth were especially worried that the education they received was overly theoretical, leaving them to acquire practical skills on their own. Many also expressed concern about their governments not doing enough to help them overcome unemployment.
Since the start of the global economic crisis, young people have faced particularly hard conditions when trying to transition from schools to the labour market. In the aftermath of the economic crisis in 2009, global youth unemployment rate saw its largest annual increase on record, resulting in some 75.8 million unemployed youth. Joblessness rates among youth are also significantly higher than adult ones. In 2010, for example, the youth unemployment rate was 12.6%, compared to 4.8% for adults.
